On hearing the news of David Middleton’s passing on Tuesday, 19th February 2019 after a long battle with cancer, we as present Captains John and Jean would like to offer our condolences to David’s family.
David liked watching football on TV but as a young an living in Sheffield he supported Sheffield United or The Blades as people from Sheffield called them, he was always still interested to see how they and our local teams were doing.
He loved his cars especially his old Austin Healey 1950 something…….. He bought it in the mid 80s and had it restored.
His getaway was fly fishing, sitting on the bank for hours and in the early days when it was raining he would sit and tie his own flies.
As an avid golfer he had a vision which turned into reality in building a golf course, and what a creation he gave us.
A course that’s won many awards over the years recently voted best in the East of England 2018.
He had a kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, he will be sorely missed by members past and present.
When we walk down Middleton way we will always be reminded of what David created as his legacy
