Professional – Danny Walsh
Born near Leeds, Danny cut his teeth as a junior golfer at Oulton Hall, winning the club championship on three occasions before becoming assistant professional at the club in 2005. He then moved on to private members clubs Wakefield and Garforth before qualifying as a class A PGA professional in 2007.
A teaching role at Garforth Golf Range followed, Danny built up a strong reputation during the nine years he was there, coaching players of all abilities ranging from beginners to elite, including the AASE Yorkshire squad. Junior coaching and encouraging participation in golf are interests of Danny’s with involvement in several sessions in association with Leeds City Council.
Danny also enjoys competitive golf with several wins to his name in the Yorkshire PGA and PGA North Region circuits and in 2012 reached Open Championship Final Qualifying. He works alongside several coaches and specialists in areas such as fitness in order to develop his own skills as a golfer and a coach.
As a coach, Danny uses a holistic approach to enhance existing skills and improve the players knowledge of their own game. He aims to help players feel relaxed and able to ask questions, an open dialogue is key to his coaching success as he strives to understand each individual’s needs and obstacles, taking into account factors inside and outside golf. He also introduces course management strategies where appropriate in order to improve the game on the course, not just the driving range!
Danny has used technology to enhance his coaching throughout his career and lessons include video analysis and Trackman technology.
AAT PGA Golf Professional – Matthew Peacock
Matthew was born and raised in Scunthorpe and still lives in the town today. He started playing golf at the age of 12, mainly on public courses in the area, including; Kingsway and Normanby Hall Golf Club.
After leaving John Leggott College in 1997, Matthew got a job at Normanby Hall Golf Club and began his 5 year PGA training.
Once qualified as a PGA Professional he joined Forest Pines in 2002.
In his role as Golf Operations Supervisor, Matthew ensures the smooth day to day running of the golf club, as well as offering golf lessons to all ages and abilities. Matthew loves sport and is a keen supporter of Norwich City Football Club. He spends most of his spare time with his partner and 3 daughters.
AA PGA Golf Professional – Dan Greenwood
Dan is a Yorkshire lad, born and raised in Huddersfield. Surprisingly, he didn't start playing golf until his late teens, but not long afterwards got his first job at Normanby Hall Golf Club as an Assistant Professional.
He gained his full PGA qualification in 1997 and shortly afterwards joined Forest Pines Golf Club. Dan is part-time professional at the club, spending some time working in the pro-shop, but mainly competing in numerous events around the country during the golfing season.
He has played in European Tour Events and has represented Forest Pines at many different tournaments.
Dan was the Midlands Professional of the year in 2013 and in the same year won the Club Professional Championship, he then went on to represent GB & Ireland in the PGA Cup.
Dan lives locally in Broughton with his wife and 2 daughters
